Telepractice

The research is clear: Services provided via telepractice are just as efficacious as those provided in person!

The 5 C's of Telepractice

At Linguistik we strongly believe that teletherapy is not a last resort; instead, high-quality services should be accessible to all from the outset. According to a sweeping analysis of 32 pertinent research articles, there are at least five distinct benefits to speech-language therapy provided through telepractice (Guglani et al., 2023). These are succinctly named the 5 C’s.

Easy-to-access Care

Telepractice eliminates barriers to services, such as rural communities that are experiencing a critical shortage of qualified therapists or families who struggle to commute to sessions. Telepractice also makes it possible to provide services to clients who seek expertise in select areas, such as bilingual intervention or diagnosis-specific needs.

Increased Comfort

Telepractice allows clients to receive high-quality services from any location: at home, in the classroom, in a computer lab, or even out in the community. In fact, this perceived increase in comfort is so great that some clients prefer online treatment sessions (Constantinescu, 2010).

Increased Convenience

Combining mainstream technology with evidenced-based principles, telepractice has been proven to be just as effective as in-person services (Gabel et al., 2013; Grogan-Johnson et al., 2013). In a teletherapy session, clinicians keep their clients motivated by utilizing engaging materials such as interactive task cards, apps, Google Drive materials, physical manipulatives, educational websites, eBooks, and PDFs.

Reduced Cost

At Linguistik, we offer our valued clients rates that are competitive with larger contract companies. We also equip our clinicians with a robust suite of virtual resources and assessment materials that are methodologically comparable to their in-person equivalent (Palsbo, 2007). This ensures that our clients get the most out of their investment with us.

Higher Confidentiality

Linguistik provides synchronous services in real-time utilizing secure web-conferencing apps that are both HIPAA- and FERPA-compliant. Furthermore, we capitalize on encryption for maintaining confidential information, including scheduling, billing, and documentation.
